5 Ways Working Moms Can Find Time To Listen To Podcasts and TED Talks.

We get it. There’s simply not enough hours in a day. Between getting ready for work, dropping the kids at school, beating traffic, making dinner…phew! It’s definitely not enough. I mean where is the time to do other things?

It’s so easy to get absorbed in this routine that we forget to make time for personal development. Before you know it, you’re getting old and it’s too late to do anything.

We definitely don’t want you to live a life of regrets which is why we try our best to share tips, tricks, and resources to live your best life as a working mom.

In a previous post, we shared ten TED talks for working moms which is in line with our theme for the month of August; lifelong learning. We understand that in order to develop yourself as an individual, we must intentionally consume valuable content. This can be in various formats. From articles to videos, podcasts and TED Talks. Whatever conveniently works for you.

Now. it is one thing to plan to read/watch/listen to this content, it’s entirely another to actually do so. The biggest culprit being the lack of time.

This is why today, we’re sharing five ways you as a working mom can find time to develop yourself by listening to podcasts and TED Talks.

1. In Traffic.

If you live in Nigeria, particularly in Lagos, you would know that we spent a significant percentage of our lives in traffic. It’s the truth! So, instead of wasting all that time and allowing people get on your nerves, plug in your phone and listen to your favorite podcasts. There are a ton of them on iTunes and Soundcloud.

2. Doing Chores.

You know those chores that don’t require a lot of concentration, like making breakfast, planning outfits for the week or cleaning? Yeah, you can listen to podcasts then. Although, it means that you might have to log your phone around but it’s all good. As long as you’re achieving something.

3. Working Out.

Do you go to the gym or you prefer to work out from the comfort of your home? All of that time could also be used to listen to audio TED Talks. Double duty if you ask me. So, if you need to motivation to work out, a TED Talk could be all you need.

4. Getting Ready in the Morning.

If you take a bit of time getting ready in the morning, you should put it to good use by listening to something. From showering to fixing up your wig and applying your makeup. You could snag a couple of minutes before facing the traffic where you can continue.

5. Doing minor tasks online.

Instagramming aimlessly or catching up on the latest celebrity gossip? You should be listening to a podcast.

The idea is to find the most convenient time for you and stick with it. That way, it becomes a routine and less of a chore.
