Dear Blazers & Baby Reader,
It’s official, we’re calling for submissions. Our blog is a great forum for you to share your own experiences, viewpoints and writing flair with other Blazers & Baby readers. We value being able to publish new writers alongside more experienced ones; it’s the constant influx of interested, committed people who keep this site pertinent and fresh. So, whether you’re a seasoned writer, or one who has never been published before, we’d love to hear from you. Whether you’re fresh out of university or have 15 years’ work experience underneath your wings, a single woman or a grandmother of three, we want to be inspired by your unique perspective on modern Nigerian parenting, work-life balance, the female experience in corporate Nigeria and everything in-between.
We want your funny stories, your sad stories, the stories you want to shout from the rooftop and the ones you want to whisper anonymously. If it’ll interest a working woman especially a mum, we want to read it.
So what makes a good post?
A few things we look for are: an original voice; an unexpected view; an unfamiliar perspective; humour; vivid details that show us rather than tell us; anecdotes that illuminate a wider theme.
We have a full calendar of themes for each month of the year that guide our contributors but we publish posts that fall outside the boundaries. A successful Blazers & Baby post may be funny, surprising, touching or enlightening – or all of these. It may present a slice of life or a powerful experience that changed you in some way. It may be a meditation on something that matters to you. It goes beyond a rant, and it is deft in moving from the particular to the universal.
Above all, a post should be personal rather than political. It must be true, not fictional.

Our writers typically write one to two short blog posts a month, each around 500 – 700 words. In return, all contributors get discounted tickets (20-40% off!) to Blazers & Baby events and first dibs on all opportunities that come this way.
